The Integrated Arts Academy is seeking a passionate and energetic K-5 Physical Education teacher for the 2020-2021 school year to join a school committed to high levels of achievement of all students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Vermont teacher certification with a Physical Education/Health endorsement.
  • Experience in elementary school best practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maintain a safe learning environment, take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;
  • Basic knowledge of K-5 core curriculum.
  • Experience of successfully collaborating with other professionals, classroom teachers, and teaching artists in creating curriculum and supporting students
  • Willingness to explore and incorporate arts integration strategies into the P.E. curriculum including dance or movement
  • Fitnessgram and alternate assessment implementation
  • Maintain and enforce District Policies, regulations, and procedures;
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with Federal Law (FERPA);
  • Maintain attendance in accordance with established days/hours of work;

Perform other tasks and duties as appropriate and/or assigned by the Superintendent, building principal, or their designee(s)

Required:

• In “Certifications” section, note the following (if pending, please indicate):

o Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.

o Endorsement in the subject area or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.

o Documented NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher status.

• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

• THREE Letters of Recommendation and transcripts uploaded to SchoolSpring

• Understanding of Cultural Competency 

• School experience at the elementary level

• Familiarity with integrated technology as a learning tool

• Knowledge of best practices regarding student management protocols

• Knowledge of elementary research-based best practices

 

Preferred:

• Training and experience with English Language Learners

• Evidence of a strong connection with students and families.

• Experience in a professional/teaching learning community

• Knowledge of assessments and use of data to inform instruction

• Experience in implementing inclusive practices

• Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume and cover letter

• Ongoing educational coursework

education.
