The Burlington Technical Center is seeking a dynamic part time (.5 FTE) Adult Education Coordinator to join our team of professionals. The Adult Education Coordinator provides leadership and direction for a comprehensive Adult Education program that will support the economy for Chittenden County. With the support of regional organizations, the candidate will assess the training needs of regional employers for the purpose of creating general and specific training programs.

 

The Assistant Director of Adult Education works collaboratively with business and industry for basic skills, workforce development, and community education programs for the general public; develops and facilitates partnerships with college representatives, local school districts, employers, Department of Labor, economic development organizations and others in the development of programs. The Adult Education Coordinator develops and monitors budget to include allocation of teacher salaries, purchasing of books, supplies, materials, and equipment; coordinates strategic advertising, marketing, and recruiting for programs. This coordinator also provides counseling to prospective students in the programs prior to enrollment. It is expected that the administrator attends and participates in appropriate Adult Education Coordinator meetings, BTC meetings and district training pertaining to Adult Education and is responsible for grants submissions and reports. Additional responsibilities include acting as School Certifying Agent for any veterans enrolled in programs, and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  1. Licensed or eligible for the required endorsement, “Assistant Director for Adult Education” 5440-20 (Applicant must have a Master’s Degree in a relevant field)
  2. Three years related work experience
  3. The ability to conduct workforce and community needs assessments (e.g., identify individual training needs for personal and/or professional growth, identify community needs)
  4. Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  5. Completed SchoolSpring application, including 3 letters of recommendation
  6. Understanding of Cultural Competency
  7. Knowledge of best practices regarding frameworks of adult learning
  8. Excellent technology skills
  9. Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume, cover letter, and essays
  10. Some evening and or weekend hours may be required.

 

Responsibilities:

 - Organize and administer curriculum and courses that are customized for business and industry that may include articulated agreements with high-education and or industry certification and licensure.

 - Recruit, Hire, Supervise and evaluate staff involved in the instruction of all courses including customized training courses and follow Burlington School District hiring practices/policies.

Generate funding through business and industry collaboratives, and state and federal grants programs in support of industry requested programming. Ensure the department operates within approved budgets.

 - Develop and maintain an advisory committee composed of community business and industry leaders.

Monitor all aspects of administering Evening Programming including advertising, recruitment of staff, curriculum development, etc.

 - Develop and track longitudinal data related to desired outcomes of Adult Education programs and partnerships.

 - Assure the accurate and timely collection and reporting of data as required by the Federal and State Governments.
