Description

This position works closely with the Special Education team at BHS and provides services to all district Student Support Services staff, to accomplish a variety of work and assignments.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of equivalent experience
  • Mastery of grammar, rhetoric, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Must be able to work independently in a high paced environmentbut also thrive under a team concept with the office staff
  • Training and/or experience in the use of office equipment such as telephone, two-way radios, personal computers, photocopiers, printers, fax machines, intercom, etc.
  • Proficient in computer applications – including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet, and Google Docs.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and decorum in dealing with students, parents/guardians, staff, and administrators. Adhering to confidentiality around students, student families and personnel issues is a must.
  • Strong organizational skills are highly desired. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work schedule to promote smooth and efficient workflow.
  • First Aid knowledge and training preferred.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Learn complex systems in order to issue meeting notices, parent surveys and other assigned tasks
  • Schedule multilingual liaisons, families, and teachers for IEP and evaluation meetings across the school district.
  • Answer phones, take messages, greet visitors, respond to their needs.
  • Point person for all attendance management, which includes daily communication with teachers, students, and families, using PowerSchool 
  • Processes incoming mail for filing, prioritization, follow-up, disposal or further distribution.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and neat office space.
  • Prepare and file confidential documents as requested.
  • Perform routine office duties such as typing, filing, photocopying, computing data, data entry, and school mailings.
  • Comply with Board and administrative policies, regulations, and procedures and reinforces students' doing the same.
  • Attend scheduled staff/faculty meetings as requested.
  • Prepare/Complete appropriate reports/paperwork.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established days/hours of work.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as appropriate and/or assigned.
  • Adherence to district safety policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - PHYSICAL DEMANDS.

  • Possess visual acuity and stamina to work at a computer monitor as needed each day.
  • Possess strength and stamina to be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 90 minutes at a time throughout the workday.
  • Ability to hear, speak, and communicate with individuals in person and via telephone or other devise or equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequent moving about the building, light lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing (stairs), or other limited physical activities, often in multi-storied buildings without elevator access.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work environment is a regular office or other school setting.
  • Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buildings.
  • Occasional exposure to weather extremes.
  • Ability to tolerate extremes in noise levels.
  • Ability to tolerate stressful situations and maintain proper decorum.
