The Burlington School District has an immediate opening for a Payroll Specialist. This position is primarily responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing. The successful candidate will exhibit a high level of attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and a willingness to be part of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An accounting degree or accounting experience.
- Highly proficient in use of technology, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to consistently meet deadlines.
SELECTED ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Prepare, verify, and process district payrolls.
- Update and maintain employee pay records, such as records for new hires, and updates for current and terminated employees.
- Work closely with managers to ensure accurate time and attendance records.
- Review payroll registers for accuracy and completeness.
- Respond to employee or manager inquiries regarding pay, and payroll-related questions.
- Prepare reports as needed for the Business Office, Human Resources, and other school departments.
- Prepare reports required by state and federal agencies.
- Prepare and process end of the year reporting requirements and W2 forms.
- Perform other tasks and duties in support of the District’s needs.
