Description

The Burlington School District has an immediate opening for a Payroll Specialist.  This position is primarily responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing.  The successful candidate will exhibit a high level of attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and a willingness to be part of a team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. An accounting degree or accounting experience.
  2. Highly proficient in use of technology, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  3. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to consistently meet deadlines.

SELECTED ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Prepare, verify, and process district payrolls.
  2. Update and maintain employee pay records, such as records for new hires, and updates for current and terminated employees.
  3. Work closely with managers to ensure accurate time and attendance records.
  4. Review payroll registers for accuracy and completeness.
  5. Respond to employee or manager inquiries regarding pay, and payroll-related questions.
  6. Prepare reports as needed for the Business Office, Human Resources, and other school departments.
  7. Prepare reports required by state and federal agencies.
  8. Prepare and process end of the year reporting requirements and W2 forms.
  9. Perform other tasks and duties in support of the District’s needs.
