Burlington School District is seeking a dynamic certified Physical Education (PE) teacher to join us as a long-term substitute from May 1st, 2024 - the end of the school year at JJ Flynn Middle School. This role will work in coordination with our other PE teacher, the Unified Arts Team, and the Principal. We are seeking an applicant with experience working with youth and who seeks to live our school values of Joy, Curiosity, Friendship, Growth, and Joy alongside of students.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: 

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
• Endorsement in middle school Physical Education (08) or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

 Preferred Attributes:

• Training and/or experience with English Language Learners.
• Experience in a professional/teaching learning community; experience in co-teaching/collaborating with other educators.
• Evidence of student-centered learning approaches including personalizing instruction and supporting students meeting core proficiencies
• Evidence of implementing inclusive practices for students with special needs.
• Ongoing educational post graduate coursework in education or subject area, including diversity, equity and inclusion.

 

EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS/TERMS:

• SALARY: As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association. This is a Per Diem position paid Bi-Weekly.
• Long Term Subs (1st 30 days): $20.00 per hour for 7.75 daily hours 
• Long Term Subs (Day 31+): $35.45 per hour for 7.75 daily hours
• SCHOOL YEAR: May 1st, 2024 - end of the school year; 7.5 per day/37.5 per week
